Follow the paver closely, roll at high temperature, keep uniform speed and coordination, no collision, no interference.
Roll immediately behind the paver while the asphalt mixture is at the highest temperature to ensure compaction effect.
The distance between roller and paver should not be too far, generally controlled within 3–5 m.
Roller speed must match the paver speed, keep constant speed, no sudden changes.
Over-speed, sudden stop and sudden start are prohibited to avoid pavement shoving and bulging.
Rollers must not hit or bump the paver, especially the paver track and screed.
Observe in advance when reversing and turning, and keep a safe distance.
Roll from low to high, from edge to center.
Keep the rolling direction the same as the paver; avoid random oblique rolling.
Turn, start and stop on the compacted, cooler pavement.
U-turn on hot mixture, sudden braking and long-time stopping are strictly prohibited.
When multiple pavers work in echelon, rollers compact the longitudinal joints first, then the full width.
Overlap rolling at joints to ensure full compaction and prevent cracking and water penetration.
Unified command; rollers do not interfere, compete for lanes or roll randomly.
Special person in charge with good visibility to avoid blind-area accidents.
Follow the sequence: initial rolling → intermediate rolling → final rolling; no missing, insufficient or over-compaction.
Keep rolling continuous, uniform and standard to ensure density and smoothness.
